CNHR pop-in visits in Ontario

The Peanut Mill, St. Catharines

It feels like The Peanut Mill has been a leader of the natural health movement in the Niagara region forever. It was founded in April 1976 by Antje Wirth, mother of the store’s current owner and general manager, Jason Sebeslav. The Peanut Mill will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year.

Nature’s Treasure by Fortinos, Hamilton

Award-winning supermarket Fortinos was one of the leaders in grocery to embrace and focus on natural and organic products, beginning almost 30 years ago. Today, its health food brand, Nature’s Treasure, is a “store-within-a-store” and offers shoppers a full selection of products, backed up by an accredited professional staff.

Health First Network warehouse, Hamilton

The Health First Network (HFN) warehouse serves well over 100 members and nearly 150 stores and is home to the Health First line. Chris Schutz, director of operations, says, “It also distributes products from dozens of our vendor partners, with plans to add more this year, as expanded warehouse racking has been installed. The new racking doubles the capacity to support new and existing vendor partners and allows us to continue creating buying synergies for our member stores.

“It is a critical component of our strategic plan as we grow our own ‘Made in Canada, for Canada’ product line and explore future opportunities.”
