Thirty meetings, one day: Highlights from Hill Day
CHFA hosted its Hill Day in Ottawa on October 6 and 7. The event brought together delegates from across Canada and the natural, organic, and wellness value chain.
The program opened with an education session that traced the timeline of Canada’s natural health product (NHP) regulatory changes and positioned them against the US and Australian frameworks. This provided delegates with shared language, aligned context, and clear policy asks ahead of meetings. The day also created space for peer connection, knowledge exchange, and preparation, ensuring delegates felt equipped and confident.
The following day, delegates met with members of Parliament (MP) from three major parties, beginning the morning with a roundtable comprised of several Conservative MPs. Delegates also attended Question Period, hosted by MP Blaine Calkins, who introduced Bill C-224 in support of NHPs, as well as a brief meeting with Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, who reinforced cross-party interest and support.
Over the course of the day, delegates completed a record 30 MP meetings. Across discussions, policymakers demonstrated high engagement, asked substantive questions, and expressed both support and a willingness to understand the industry more deeply.
Thank you to all delegates, and to partners Gowling WLG and Impact Public Affairs for helping elevate our industry’s voice with Parliament.
